Summary: The Senior Data Project Manager will lead the Agile delivery of complex data-driven initiatives, requiring a strong background in data engineering and modern data platforms. This role is suited for an experienced leader who excels in fast-paced environments and is adept at managing cross-functional teams. The position emphasizes effective communication with stakeholders and the implementation of best practices in data governance and operational resilience. The role is fully remote but requires candidates to be based in the UK.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead Agile delivery of data programmes, including data engineering, data platform, and analytics initiatives
- Own and drive delivery across cross-functional squads (data engineers, analysts, architects, product owners)
- Facilitate Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, backlog refinement) to ensure consistent, high-quality delivery
- Partner with Product Owners to manage and prioritise backlogs aligned to business value
- Remove delivery blockers, manage dependencies, and ensure continuous flow of value
- Track progress using Agile metrics (velocity, burn-down/up, cycle time) and drive continuous improvement
- Communicate effectively with senior stakeholders, translating technical delivery into business outcomes
- Embed best practices in data governance, quality, and operational resilience within Agile delivery
Key Skills:
- Proven experience delivering data engineering or data platform projects in Agile environments
- Strong understanding of modern data architectures (e.g. ETL/ELT pipelines, data lakes, cloud data platforms)
- Hands-on experience with Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban, or scaled Agile)
- Demonstrated ability to lead and coach cross-functional teams in Agile best practices
- Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation, and communication skills
- Comfortable working in iterative, fast-changing environments with evolving priorities
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern data tooling (desirable)
- Agile certifications (e.g. Certified Scrum Master, SAFe) (desirable)
- Experience scaling Agile across multiple teams or programmes (desirable)
