Summary: This role is for a Senior Data Engineer focused on building and supporting large-scale data platforms and pipelines, primarily using Python, SQL, and Google Cloud Platform. The position requires strong technical skills and effective stakeholder engagement, working closely with ML and operational teams. The role is fully remote and offers a contract duration of 12 months. The ideal candidate should have extensive experience in data engineering and a solid understanding of data infrastructure and analytics.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build and maintain robust data pipelines and data processing architectures
  • Develop and optimise data solutions using Python and SQL
  • Work with cloud based data platforms, primarily within Google Cloud Platform
  • Troubleshoot and improve existing data systems for performance, reliability and scalability
  • Collaborate closely with ML, analytics and operational teams to enable data and AI use cases
  • Apply software engineering best practices including code reviews, version control and CI/CD
  • Contribute to data platform and system architecture decisions

Key Skills:

  • Strong commercial experience with Python and SQL
  • Proven background in cloud data engineering, ideally using GCP or transferable cloud platforms
  • Experience building and operating big data pipelines and distributed data systems
  • Solid understanding of database and system architecture
  • Familiarity with ML and AI environments and data requirements
  • Experience working in a software engineering led environment
