Summary: The Senior Data Engineer role focuses on managing and troubleshooting data issues within the healthcare, medical, and pharmacy claims sectors. The candidate will be responsible for data management, validation, and architecture, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance business processes. This position requires extensive experience in data engineering and SQL, along with a strong understanding of data quality and security. The role also involves mentoring junior engineers and participating in various project management activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for troubleshooting data issues and backend support UI development.
  • Create, maintain, and execute complex SQL queries for data management and validation.
  • Monitor data workflows to ensure quality, consistency, and reliability.
  • Design and implement scalable and secure data architectures.
  • Perform production solutions and services configurations as needed.
  • Identify organizational improvements and recommend enhancements to business processes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including technical product owners, analysts, and software engineers.
  • Create and maintain SOP documents.
  • Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and architectural discussions.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in data engineering.

Key Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent work experience.
  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering or a related role.

  • 8+ years of hands-on work in SQL and/or PL/SQL.
  • Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, neo4j).

  • Healthcare, Medical & Pharmacy Claims Experience. The ideal candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting data issues, backend support UI development, which includes but is not limited to managing data implementations, data integrations, data production, data quality, and data security.

Demonstrates subject matter expertise in relation to data mapping, transformations, validations, and ingestion workflows. Monitor data workflows and ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability. Design and implement scalable and secure data architectures to support new and existing applications. Perform production solutions and services configurations as needed. Serve as a change agent to identify organizational improvements and make recommendations to improve business processes. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including technical product owners, analysts, and software engineers. Create and maintain SOP documents. Participate in code reviews, sprint planning, and architectural discussions. Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices in data engineering. Familiarity designing, implementing, and optimizing data models in NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra, neo4j) to support high-volume, low-latency workloads. Working knowledge of big data/cloud technologies (Databricks, AWS, Azure, Hadoop, Spark, Snowflake etc.) is preferred. Expertise in Microsoft Office Suite applications PowerPoint, Word, Excel and Outlook. Flexible work schedule. Experience with project management tools like JIRA. Strong understanding of agile development practices, preferably SAFe. Strong analytical skills. Excellent verbal, listening and written communication skills.
