Summary: The Senior Data Engineer role focuses on implementing data pipelines and managing Kubernetes infrastructure for a multi-cloud API platform. The position requires collaboration across teams to enhance operational efficiency and ensure data quality. The engineer will also mentor junior team members and drive the exploration of new technologies. This role is remote and emphasizes strong technical skills in cloud environments and data management practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement data pipelines using best practices for ETL / ELT, data management, and data governance.
- Analyze and process complex data sources in a fast-paced environment.
- Perform data modeling against large data sets for peak efficiency.
- Identify, design, and implement process improvement solutions that automate manual processes and leverage standard frameworks and methodologies.
- Understand and incorporate data quality principles that ensure optimal reliability, impact, and user experience.
- Partner across teams to support cross-platform operations.
- Create and document functional and technical specifications.
- Drive exploration of new features, versions, and related technologies, and provide recommendations to enhance our offerings.
- Mentor junior engineers within the team.
- Support the design, deployment, and stabilization of Client's enterprise Apigee Hybrid API platform across multi-cloud (Google Cloud Platform, Azure/AKS) and on-prem environments.
- Provision and manage Kubernetes infrastructure, deploying Apigee Hybrid runtimes and Akamai components.
- Configure multi-cloud networking and develop Terraform-based infrastructure as code.
- Support CI/CD integration, observability and SIEM connectivity, and production readiness activities.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners in a milestone-driven environment.
- Ensure infrastructure readiness, supporting go-live timelines, and provide documentation and knowledge transfer for long-term operational ownership.
Key Skills:
- 3 years Kubernetes (AKS required; GKE/on-prem preferred).
- Strong multi-cloud (Azure & Google Cloud Platform) experience.
- Terraform / IaC and CI/CD pipeline experience.
- Familiarity with Apigee Hybrid architecture.
- Understanding of edge platforms (Akamai preferred).
- Experience with observability, SIEM, and Zero-Trust security.
