Note: Birth Defect Analyst
The ideal candidate will have the skills specified below:
- Experience collecting and managing birth defect data as found in the State of Ohio applications, including but not limited to the Maternal and Child Health Integrated Data System.
- Experience collecting and managing birth defect data from the State of Ohio Department of Health agency via the Innovate Ohio Platform (IOP).
- Experience using Snowflake/ANSI SQL to select and transform data as needed. SQL experience must include data conversion, pivots, and logical assignments.
- Experience creating views or temporary tables within a sandbox database and/or schema to facilitate more complex queries.
- Experience working with business users to understand and document their analytics and reporting requirements.
- Experience developing complex reports and dashboards for state and federal reporting.
- Experience with all types of testing from unit to system and user acceptance testing, developing test cases and scenarios along with business users, reporting and tracking defects, and triaging/resolving issues.
- Experience training business users on analytic tools and data structures.
- Excellent communication skills both written and oral.
Day-to-Day responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Translate existing SQL queries built in the HUE Cloudera to execute on the Snowflake platform.
- Meet with epidemiologists to develop SQL queries that incorporate program-based logic models based on reporting requirements and data structure.
- Answer questions from epidemiologists about the structure, syntax, logic, and design of SQL queries during the collaborative development process.
- Create queries for line listed data, incorporating variables from many different data tables.
- Create summary queries of aggregate data using multiple stratification criteria and validate using existing canned reports.
- Utilize innovative approaches to develop data cleaning queries within complex data structures that identify sites and/or cases that require follow up.
- Modify and trouble-shoot queries during user acceptance testing to validate query functionality.
- Provide detailed documentation within each query that clearly defines the logic and expected outputs for each section of coding (e.g., exclusions, calculated variables, sub-queries, stratification).
- 5 years of experience in IT with consulting experience.
- 5 years required experience developing and executing queries using SQL with minimal supervision.
- 5 years required experience working with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document reporting requirements.
- 5 years required experience conducting quality assurance checks to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data used for analysis, reporting, and decision-making.
- 1 year required experience working on a project using ANSI SQL on the Snowflake platform.
- 4-year college degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or other relevant field.
- 5 years required experience developing and executing queries using SQL with minimal supervision.
- 5 years required experience working with business stakeholders to gather, analyze, and document reporting requirements.
- 5 years required experience conducting quality assurance checks to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data used for analysis, reporting.
- 1 year required experience working on a project using ANSI SQL on the Snowflake platform.
- 4-year college degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business, or other relevant field.
