Summary: The role of Senior Data Analyst involves contributing to an Automation and Innovation project within central Government, focusing on data-driven insights to enhance public services and policy-making. Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct in-depth data analysis and develop advanced analytics models to uncover insights and inform decision-making.
  • Implement statistical modelling, machine learning, and predictive analytics to support automation and innovation goals.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines, dashboards, and visualisations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for data-driven automation and process improvement.
  • Support the design and implementation of data quality checks, governance frameworks, and ethical data handling standards.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies and methodologies in data analysis and data science, proposing innovative applications within the government context.
  • Contribute to the broader digital transformation of government functions through inter-departmental collaboration and solution sharing.

Key Skills:

  • Strong background in Data Analysis or Data Science, with a degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or similar.
  • Proficiency in key analytical and data science tools such as SQL, Python, R, Excel, and visualisation software (e.g. Power BI, Tableau).
  • Experience with statistical modelling, machine learning, and predictive analytics techniques.
  • Familiarity with data quality, data governance, and big data technologies (e.g. Hadoop, Spark) or cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
  • Excellent problem-solving ability and a proven track record of translating complex data insights into actionable business recommendations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences effectively.
  • Experience working with large, complex datasets and delivering impactful, data-driven outcomes.
