Summary: The Senior Cloud FinOps Analyst will lead financial operations analysis for a hybrid cloud environment, primarily focusing on AWS. This role involves managing cloud program data pipelines, optimizing costs, and providing actionable insights to drive savings across engineering and finance. The analyst will also be responsible for forecasting, establishing chargeback models, and ensuring governance in cloud spending. Key Responsibilities:

  • Own the FinOps data layer: Build and govern CUR/usage pipelines leveraging existing cost platforms or home built tooling.
  • Establish showback/chargeback: Refine allocation models, publish monthly bills, resolve disputes, and drive accountability with budget vs. actuals and unit-economics KPIs.
  • Forecast & plan: Deliver driver-based forecasts (product/BU), scenario models for roadmap changes, and monthly variance analyses for FP&A and engineering leaders.
  • Optimize at scale: Create automation and playbooks (rightsizing, scheduling, storage tiering, egress patterns), partner with platform engineering team to refine opportunities, land changes, and track verified savings.
  • Commitment strategy: Lead SP/RI/CUD planning and renewals, target coverage and utilization %, and negotiate commercial terms with vendors/procurement.
  • Governance & guardrails: Define tagging standards, budgets/alerts, and policy-as-code controls; measure adherence and lead corrective actions.
  • Anomaly response: Operate spend monitoring, triage spikes, run incident reviews, and prevent recurrences.
  • Executive reporting: Build concise, role-based dashboards (engineer exec) and a quarterly narrative of savings, risks, and investments.
  • Program leadership: Set OKRs, run backlogging and ceremonies, mentor team members, and grow a community of practice aligned to the FinOps Framework (Inform/Optimize/Operate).

Key Skills:

  • 5-8+ years in FinOps/Cloud/FP&A/Platform; 3+ years hands-on with AWS cost data (CUR, CE, Budgets).
  • Strong SQL and one scripting language (Python preferred); experience with data orchestration (Glue/Lambda/dbt/Airflow).
  • Demonstrated delivery at scale (>$50M spend) and ownership of SP/RI/CUD strategy.
  • BI experience (Power BI/QuickSight/Looker) and at least one FinOps/TBM tool (CloudZero/Apptio/CloudHealth/Harness/Flexera).
  • Nice to have certifications: FinOps Certified Practitioner/Professional; AWS Cloud Practitioner or Solutions Architect (or equivalent experience).
  • Azure/Google Cloud Platform billing exports; Snowflake/Databricks cost optimization; TBM/Apptio; policy-as-code (Cloud Custodian), IaC awareness (Terraform).

Job Summary
Lead Cloud FinOps Analysis for a hybrid estate (cloud, on-prem, and SaaS), with a focus on
AWS. Own the financial rigor of our cloud program data pipelines, allocation, forecasting,
commitments, and optimization turning usage into actionable insights and measurable
savings across engineering and finance. Scope includes spend across AWS (preferred),
with exposure to Azure/Google Cloud Platform and major SaaS platforms.
What you ll do
Own the FinOps data layer: Build and govern CUR/usage pipelines leveraging

aligned datasets; ensure 99%+ allocation coverage via tags/accounts.
