Summary: The Senior Cloud Engineer will provide leadership and technical direction in cloud engineering, mentoring junior engineers while collaborating with various teams to define infrastructure requirements. This role involves designing and maintaining secure cloud solutions, optimizing Infrastructure as Code, and enhancing CI/CD pipelines. The engineer will also manage WAF configurations, lead disaster recovery strategies, and support ITIL processes. Staying updated with industry trends and promoting a culture of observability and automation are key aspects of this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide senior-level cloud engineering leadership, technical direction, and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Collaborate with product managers, security teams, and stakeholders to define cloud infrastructure and platform requirements.
- Design, implement, and maintain secure, scalable, and cost-efficient cloud solutions across AWS/Azure.
- Develop, review, and optimize Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, and Packer.
- Build, maintain, and enhance CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitLab, and cloud-native tools.
- Develop automations using Python, Golang, and cloud-native services.
- Manage Web Application Firewall (WAF) configurations, certificates, and automations for web applications.
- Lead disaster recovery strategy design, implementation, and automation for cloud-hosted systems.
- Support ITIL processes incident, request, and change management and coordinate with operations teams as needed.
- Diagnose and resolve cloud infrastructure issues related to performance, reliability, security, and scalability.
- Promote a culture of observability, automation, DevOps practices, and continuous improvement.
- Stay current with industry trends, emerging cloud technologies, and automation best practices.
Key Skills:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in cloud engineering or cloud operations, with 2+ years in a senior or lead role.
- 5+ years working with cloud PaaS services: RDS/SQL, API Gateways, Storage, Firewalls, Caching, Lambda, AKS/EKS, etc.
- 5+ years experience in cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- 5+ years hands-on experience with IaC: Terraform (primary), CloudFormation, Ansible, Packer.
- 5+ years experience with Python, Golang, or other automation programming languages.
- 7+ years working with Agile and DevOps methodologies.
- 3+ years experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab.
- 1-3 years experience with cloud design patterns, containers, Kubernetes, and cloud architecture.
- 3+ years experience with cloud networking, load balancers, Akamai WAF, and monitoring solutions.
- 3+ years experience with security tools such as Wiz, GuardDuty, WhiteSource, or Checkmarx.
