Senior Azure Platform Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Azure Platform Engineer to design, implement, and support secure, scalable cloud infrastructure within a highly regulated investment banking environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering enterprise-grade Azure platform services, enabling development teams through automation, governance, and best practices while ensuring compliance with organisational security and operational standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain Azure cloud infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and Azure CLI.
• Administer and optimise Azure DevOps, including platform configuration, governance, and CI/CD pipeline management with GitHub Enterprise and Azure DevOps Pipelines.
• Implement and manage code quality and security scanning tools such as SonarQube within the software delivery lifecycle.
• Develop and support secure networking solutions, including Virtual Networks (VNets), subnets, hub-and-spoke architectures, private endpoints, and Azure Firewall.
• Deploy and manage Azure data services, including Microsoft Fabric workspaces, Azure Databricks, Azure SQL Database, Cosmos DB, and Storage Accounts.
• Build and support application hosting platforms using Azure App Services, App Service Plans, API Management (APIM), Azure Container Registry, and Virtual Machines.
• Enable and support AI workloads through Azure AI Foundry, ensuring secure and scalable deployments.
• Configure and manage security and operational services, including Azure Key Vault, role-based access control (RBAC), Entra ID group management, and Log Analytics.
• Operate effectively within an Azure Policy-governed environment, ensuring compliance with enterprise standards and regulatory requirements.
• Apply a strong understanding of Azure's shared responsibility model to maintain secure and resilient cloud services.
• Collaborate closely with infrastructure, development, security, and architecture teams to deliver robust cloud solutions that meet business and regulatory objectives.
• Provide technical guidance, troubleshoot complex platform issues, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the Azure estate.

Skills & Experience

• Strong experience designing and supporting enterprise Azure platforms.
• Hands-on expertise with Terraform, Azure CLI, Azure DevOps, and GitHub Enterprise.
• Excellent understanding of Azure networking, identity, governance, and security best practices.
• Experience supporting modern data platforms, application hosting services, and AI capabilities within Azure.
• Knowledge of DevSecOps practices, including automated code quality and security scanning.
• Comfortable working within tightly governed cloud environments with Azure Policy and enterprise compliance controls.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and a collaborative approach to delivering cloud platform services in a fast-paced investment banking environment.
