Summary: We are seeking a Senior Android Developer for a fully remote contract role in the UK. The position involves hands-on development of scalable Android applications, collaborating with cross-functional teams to implement features from concept to production. The ideal candidate will have expert-level skills in Kotlin and a strong understanding of modern Android development practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of modern, scalable Android applications using Kotlin and Jetpack libraries.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement new features across the entire app lifecycle — concept, design, build, test, deploy, and maintain.
- Ensure robust app performance and responsiveness across devices and OS versions.
- Apply modern architecture patterns (e.g., MVVM, MVI) and contribute to maintaining a clean and modular codebase.
- Integrate with RESTful APIs and real-time data streams provided by backend services.
- Write unit and integration tests to ensure code quality and stability.
- Identify and resolve bugs, performance bottlenecks, and UX issues.
- Support the team with knowledge sharing and contribute to best practices in mobile development.
Key Skills:
- Expert-level Kotlin developer with strong Android SDK knowledge and a portfolio of published apps.
- Solid understanding of Jetpack Compose, Coroutines, and Android Architecture Components.
- Experience building complex UI and animations with a focus on user experience and performance.
- Strong grasp of app lifecycle, background processing, and state management on Android.
- Comfortable working with third-party libraries and integrating external SDKs.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines for Android (e.g., GitHub Actions, Bitrise, Jenkins).
- Experience with Firebase, Room, Hilt/Dagger, and Google Play services is a plus.
