Summary: Sellick Partnership is seeking an experienced SEND Lawyer for a potentially long-term remote locum contract with a Local Authority client. The role involves providing expert legal advice and representation on matters related to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The ideal candidate will have litigation rights and previous SEND experience. Both full and part-time hours are available for this position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide expert legal advice, representation, and case management on matters relating to Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- Support the Council's statutory duties under the Children and Families Act 2014 and related legislation, ensuring lawful, fair, and effective decision-making in the best interests of children and young people.
- Weekly case management with Senior Assessment Officers holding tribunal and mediation casework, supporting and advising on key decisions.
- Triaging tribunal and mediation casework.
- Holding most complex tribunal cases - preparing and attending hearings.
- Providing advice and support across wider SEND team.
- Delivery of training.
- Quality assuring bundles.
Key Skills:
- Qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive, or Barrister with litigation rights.
- Previous experience in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
- Strong case management skills.
- Ability to provide expert legal advice and representation.
- Experience in tribunal and mediation casework.
- Excellent communication and training delivery skills.
