Summary: The SEND Case Officer will support a local authority in the Midlands by conducting annual reviews and ensuring high-quality Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). This role involves acting as a primary contact for families throughout the statutory EHC assessment process and managing a varied caseload. The position is fully remote and is offered on a three-month initial contract basis. The ideal candidate will have proven experience in SEN casework and a strong understanding of relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Creation of high-quality, outcomes-focused and person-centred Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) within statutory time-frames.
- Management and administration of SEND Casework, ensuring that records and data are accurately maintained.
- Support schools and education settings with complex assessments, annual reviews and reassessments for children and young people with SEND.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience of SEN Casework and EHCP writing for a Local Authority.
- Secure knowledge and understanding of the SEND Code of Practice 2015 and The Children and Families Act 2014.
- Recent experience of managing a full and varied caseload, including children and young people with complex and additional needs.
- Excellent interpersonal skills. Able to build and maintain meaningful relationships with education settings and young people and their families.
- Strong planning and organisational skills with the ability to work well under pressure and prioritise conflicting demands to meet deadlines.
- High level of communication skills and the ability to provide clear, concise and effective written and verbal communication.
