Summary: The Security Architect role is a strategic position focused on defining and governing enterprise-wide cyber security architecture across various domains, including IT, cloud, and operational technology. The successful candidate will align security architecture with business objectives and provide architectural guidance rather than engage in hands-on delivery. This role requires strong stakeholder engagement and the ability to influence design decisions within the organization. The position is remote and has a duration of 6 months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Shape and evolve cyber security strategy and domain-specific sub-strategies (e.g. AI, identity, OT security, micro-segmentation)
- Provide expert guidance to programmes and stakeholders on security and technology decisions
- Contribute to governance forums, including AI and digital strategy discussions
- Define and maintain cyber security reference architectures, standards, and design patterns
- Ensure alignment across cloud, enterprise IT, and OT environments
- Oversee application portfolio management and security architecture governance
- Act as a security authority within design and investment boards
- Provide risk-based architectural assessments and trade-off decisions
- Ensure solutions align with enterprise standards and risk appetite
- Lead cyber security input into the wider Enterprise Architecture function
- Contribute to EA governance, forums, and thought leadership (e.g. white papers)
- Collaborate with internal teams across IT, OT, and business domains
- Engage with strategic vendors and advisory partners to inform roadmap decisions
- Support cyber awareness initiatives and internal communities
- Mentor and contribute to organisational security culture and best practices
Key Skills:
- Proven experience as a Security Architect or Enterprise Security Architect
- Strong background in enterprise, cloud, and OT security architecture
- Experience operating within governance frameworks and design authorities
- Ability to translate business risk into architectural direction
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
