Summary: The role of PSA Engineer (DTS) involves hands-on engineering responsibilities focused on maintaining and optimizing Energy Management Systems (EMS) and Dispatcher Training Simulator (DTS) environments within the energy and utilities sector. The position requires an experienced professional to ensure the reliability of critical EMS applications while engaging in development, model validation, and troubleshooting. The role is primarily remote with occasional on-site requirements and is classified as inside IR35. The contract duration is for 6 months with an immediate start date.
Key Responsibilities:
- Gather requirements and define Epics and User Stories.
- Administer and optimise EMS applications (preferably GE PowerOn Reliance (XA21) or AEMS).
- Configure and troubleshoot protocols such as ICCP, IEC, DNP3, Modbus, and data modelling (XML/JSON).
- Perform model validation and event creation for Dispatcher Training Simulator (DTS).
- Implement fixes, patches, and upgrades in live customer systems.
- Conduct code reviews, deployments, and testing activities.
- Support and restore EMS services during incidents.
Key Skills:
- 5+ years’ experience in Power System Applications (Power Flow, State Estimator, Contingency Analysis, AGC, DTS).
- Strong technical understanding of EMS/SCADA systems and related applications.
- Proficiency in Linux and Windows environments.
- Knowledge of Oracle and SQL Server databases.
- Experience with C/C++, PERL, Shell scripting, or SQL scripting.
- Familiarity with simulation tools (Simulated RTU/IED/Console).
- Excellent problem-solving skills with experience in troubleshooting complex EMS systems.
- Desirable: Experience with GE XA21, eTerra, or AEMS platforms.
- Hands-on experience with DTS, ADMS, or SCADA.
- Exposure to QTest or Grip tools.
- Strong understanding of electrical transmission modelling.
