Summary: The SCADA Engineer role involves overseeing the performance and reliability of critical Operational Technology applications and infrastructure within a 9-month contract, with potential for extension. The position requires acting as a technical design authority and ensuring compliance with service standards. The role is primarily remote with occasional office visits in Edinburgh. Candidates should have experience with SCADA systems and related technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive continuous performance improvement of OT applications through enhanced monitoring, fault reduction, and strategic asset management planning.
- Serve as Design Authority for OT infrastructure, authorising architectural changes in collaboration with application suppliers, IT teams, network providers, and customers.
- Approve operational application upgrades, including Operational Acceptance Testing, handover to support, and key go/no-go decisions.
- Develop and mentor RTS Technical Engineers, ensuring strong technical capability across support and project engineering activities.
- Maintain and advance technical expertise, setting standards for OT applications (e.g. PowerOn, PI, ODMS) and contributing to documentation, processes, and technical forums.
- Lead and support fault analysis for major incidents, working with internal and external providers to resolve issues in line with SLAs.
Key Skills:
- Experience with SCADA systems such as AVEVA, PI, GE Vernova, Siemens (Spectrum Power), Schneider (EcoStructure), Oracle Utilities, ABB, etc.
- Knowledge of ADMS systems, OMS, and/or DMS.
- Strong technical design and architecture skills.
- Ability to mentor and develop technical engineers.
- Experience in fault analysis and incident resolution.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
