Summary: We are seeking an experienced SCADA & Alarm Management Engineer to support and maintain industrial automation, SCADA, historian, and alarm management systems across oil & gas operations. This role is responsible for ensuring reliable real-time monitoring, operational visibility, alarm system effectiveness, and compliance with industry standards. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience supporting SCADA infrastructure, PLC/DCS integration, OSIsoft PI System, and alarm management programs within upstream, midstream, downstream, LNG, pipeline, terminal, or refinery environments.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and maintain SCADA servers, HMIs, communication systems, and real-time monitoring infrastructure.
  • Configure and support integration between PLCs, DCS, RTUs, and field instrumentation systems.
  • Support historian systems including OSIsoft PI System, PI Vision, and real-time operational data collection.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize SCADA communication networks and industrial data flow.
  • Develop and maintain SCADA graphics, dashboards, trends, and operational visualization tools.
  • Perform system upgrades, patch management, backup, and disaster recovery activities.
  • Support OT cybersecurity initiatives and maintain secure industrial network practices.
  • Perform alarm rationalization and nuisance alarm reduction activities.
  • Conduct alarm flood analysis and implement corrective actions to improve alarm system performance.
  • Configure alarm priorities, limits, suppression, shelving, and alarm response strategies.
  • Generate alarm KPIs, alarm performance reports, and operational analytics dashboards.
  • Conduct alarm audits and support alarm lifecycle management activities in accordance with ISA-18.2 and EEMUA 191 standards.
  • Improve operator response effectiveness and reduce alarm fatigue through alarm optimization initiatives.
  • Support Management of Change (MOC), commissioning, startup, and plant shutdown activities.
  • Collaborate with operations, process engineering, instrumentation, and maintenance teams to improve system reliability and operational performance.
  • Maintain technical documentation, system architecture diagrams, SOPs, and alarm philosophy documentation.

Key Skills:

  • 5+ years of experience supporting SCADA and alarm management systems in oil & gas or process industries.
  • Experience with SCADA platforms such as Ignition, AVEVA/Wonderware, WinCC, FactoryTalk, or iFIX.
  • Hands-on experience with OSIsoft PI System administration and support.
  • Knowledge of PLC/DCS systems including Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell Experion, ABB, Siemens, or Rockwell Automation.
  • Strong understanding of ISA-18.2 and EEMUA 191 alarm management standards.
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols including OPC, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, MQTT, and DNP3.
  • Familiarity with OT cybersecurity principles and industrial network infrastructure.
  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
