Summary: The Lead DevOps Engineer (AWS) will be responsible for designing and implementing cloud-native platforms on AWS while driving DevOps culture and best practices across engineering teams. This role involves enhancing platform engineering capabilities, managing Kubernetes-based container platforms, and ensuring compliance with government security standards. The engineer will also mentor team members and lead incident management efforts to improve system reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design, implementation, and evolution of cloud-native platforms on AWS.
- Drive DevOps culture and best practices across engineering teams, including CI/CD, automation, and infrastructure as code.
- Own and enhance platform engineering capabilities to enable self-service infrastructure and developer productivity.
- Architect and manage Kubernetes-based container platforms for scalable and reliable service delivery.
- Define and implement robust logging, monitoring, and alerting strategies to ensure high system observability and reliability.
- Ensure systems meet government security, compliance, and operational standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software engineers, architects, and security specialists.
- Mentor and support engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
- Lead incident management, post-incident reviews, and reliability improvements.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience in a Lead DevOps or similar senior engineering role within large-scale environments (preferably government or enterprise).
- Strong expertise in AWS cloud services and cloud architecture.
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and container orchestration.
- Deep understanding of platform engineering principles and developer enablement.
- Experience implementing logging, monitoring, and observability tools (eg, Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, or similar).
- Strong knowledge of infrastructure as code (eg, Terraform, CloudFormation).
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
- Solid understanding of security, compliance, and reliability in production systems.
