SAP Test Lead - Long term engagement - Outside IR35 - Remote

We are seeking a highly capable SAP Test Lead to join a major ECC carve-out programme, working client-side with a new acquisition. This is a pivotal role within a complex transformation initiative focused on removing customisations, delivering a clean core SAP environment, and positioning the business for a future S/4HANA migration.

You will sit on the client side, managing both the System Integrator (SI) and the parent organisation, ensuring testing is robust, business-focused, and delivered to a high standard across all phases.

As SAP Test Lead, you will take full ownership of the end-to-end test strategy and execution across:

• System Integration Testing (SIT)

• User Acceptance Testing (UAT)

• Defect Management

This is a carve-out environment, so readiness, coordination, and stakeholder management will be critical. You will ensure the business is fully prepared for testing before system handover and drive structured yet pragmatic test governance in an environment without a dedicated test management tool (eg HP ALM).

Key Responsibilities

• Define and deliver the overall test strategy and test plan for the ECC carve-out programme

• Lead SIT and UAT phases across multiple SAP workstreams

• Own and manage defect triage, prioritisation, and resolution governance

• Ensure test readiness across business, IT, and third-party stakeholders prior to system handover

• Coordinate and manage testing activities delivered by the System Integrator

• Act as the client-side authority for test quality and acceptance criteria

• Drive a pragmatic, creative approach to test management in the absence of dedicated test tools

• Provide clear reporting, risk management, and escalation to programme leadership

Functional Scope

Testing will cover key SAP areas including:

• Finance (FICO)

• SAP Plant Maintenance (PM)

• Supply Chain Management (SCM)

  • Warehousing

  • Logistics

Essential experience:

• Proven experience leading SAP testing on large-scale programmes (ECC and/or S/4HANA)

• Experience working on M&A, carve-out, or divestment programmes

• Strong understanding of test readiness planning before system handover

• Experience managing SIT, UAT, and defect governance

• Ability to operate without structured test tools (eg, comfortable working pragmatically without HP ALM)

• Strong stakeholder management skills, particularly managing SIs and third parties

• Confident working client-side in a governance and oversight capacity

Desirable:

• Industry experience in Oil & Gas, Energy, or Utilities

• Experience in clean core strategy and preparation for S/4HANA
