SAP IS-U FICA Consultant Energy & Utilities - Remote

About the Role

We are looking for an experienced SAP IS-U FICA (Industry Solution for Utilities Financial Contract Accounting) Consultant to support and enhance billing, invoicing, and financial accounting processes for our energy/utilities operations. The ideal candidate will bring deep functional expertise in FICA along with strong exposure to the plant/energy business environment (power generation, distribution, or utilities).

Key Responsibilities

• Provide end-to-end functional support for SAP IS-U FICA module, including configuration, enhancement, and production support
• Manage integration between IS-U FICA and other SAP modules (IS-U Billing, Device Management, Sales & Distribution, and FI/CO)
• Handle master data objects such as contract accounts, business partners, and FICA documents
• Configure and support dunning, payment processing, clarification processing, returns/reversals, and interest calculation
• Support period-end and year-end closing activities related to FICA
• Work on incoming/outgoing payment processing, payment lots, and bank statement processing
• Manage invoicing, budget billing, and account maintenance processes specific to utility/energy billing cycles
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Billing, Device Management, MDM, FI) to resolve integration issues
• Analyze and resolve production incidents, and provide root-cause analysis for recurring issues
• Prepare functional specifications for custom developments (BAPIs, user exits, enhancements) and coordinate with ABAP teams
• Support regulatory and statutory reporting requirements relevant to the energy/utility sector
• Participate in testing cycles (unit, integration, UAT) for enhancements, patches, and upgrades
• Document processes, configurations, and provide knowledge transfer to junior team members
• Ensure SLA adherence in an offshore delivery model, coordinating effectively with onshore stakeholders

Required Skills & Experience

• 10+ years of overall SAP experience, with at least 6 8 years in SAP IS-U FICA
• Prior experience working in a plant, power generation, or energy/utility company environment (highly preferred)
• Strong hands-on configuration experience in FICA: account determination, dunning, interest calculation, payment run, clarification processing
• Good understanding of IS-U Billing and Device Management (EDM) processes and their integration with FICA
• Experience with FI-CA to FI-GL integration and reconciliation
• Working knowledge of mass activities, background job scheduling, and performance tuning in FICA
• Exposure to regulatory billing requirements (e.g., tariff structures, meter-to-cash cycle) in the energy sector
• Experience in incident/problem management tools (ServiceNow, Solution Manager, etc.)
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
• Excellent communication skills to work effectively with onshore/offshore teams
• ITIL process awareness for support engagements

Preferred/Good to Have

• Exposure to S/4HANA Utilities (C4U) or SAP Convergent Invoicing/Charging
• Knowledge of SAP BRIM (Billing and Revenue Innovation Management)
• Experience with regulatory reporting for power/energy utilities
• SAP certification in IS-U or FICA
• Experience working with global energy/utility clients

• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
