Summary: The SAP Data Conversion Lead (ECC to S/4HANA) is responsible for managing the end-to-end data migration process from SAP ECC to S/4HANA. This role involves defining the migration strategy, leading ETL efforts, and ensuring data quality while collaborating with various teams. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in SAP data conversion and a deep understanding of SAP data models. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential for facilitating workshops and managing project timelines and risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and own the overall data migration strategy from SAP ECC to S/4HANA, including approach, tools, scope, and schedule.
- Collaborate with functional leads to define data objects, sources, targets, and mapping rules (e.g., customers, vendors, materials, GL accounts, assets).
- Lead the ETL process: data extraction from ECC, transformation using tools such as SAP Data Services, LSMW, CLOU, Syniti, BODS, or SAP Migration Cockpit, and loading into S/4HANA.
- Define and manage data quality rules, cleansing processes, and validation procedures to ensure accurate and consistent data migration.
- Oversee mock loads, reconciliation activities, and cutover planning in collaboration with technical and functional teams.
- Work with business teams to establish data ownership, validation checkpoints, and sign-offs.
- Manage data conversion project timelines, risks, issues, and dependencies.
- Ensure audit/compliance requirements are met related to legacy data handling and migration.
- Lead data migration workshops and facilitate decision-making on legacy data handling and archiving.
- Coordinate with SAP Basis, functional teams, business analysts, and third-party vendors during all phases of the data migration lifecycle.
- Document conversion programs, mapping logic, and reconciliation reports for audit and support purposes.
Key Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in SAP data conversion or data migration, with recent hands-on experience in ECC to S/4HANA migrations.
- Deep understanding of SAP data models across modules (FI, CO, MM, SD, PP, WM, PM, etc.).
- Experience with tools such as SAP Data Services (BODS), SAP Migration Cockpit (LTMC/LSMW), CLOU or Syniti (formerly BackOffice Associates).
- Experience in leading data migration projects in large-scale SAP transformation programs.
- Strong knowledge of data governance, master data management (MDM), and data validation/reconciliation.
- Ability to write data mapping documents, conversion specifications, and reconciliation logic.
- Experience in data archiving strategies and legacy data handling.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Strong understanding of Agile or hybrid delivery models.
