Research Assistant (Medicine & Biology)

About the Role We are seeking a Research Assistant to support the delivery of our Medicine and Biology programmes. This role focuses on supporting students in developing structured academic and research-based work within medicine, biology, neuroscience, and related healthcare fields. You will work alongside a senior mentor to guide students through literature analysis, scientific reasoning, research development, and academic writing.

Key Responsibilities

• Support students in developing research projects in medicine, biology, neuroscience, or related fields
• Assist with literature review, topic development, and research direction
• Support scientific analysis, interpretation of findings, and evidence-based reasoning
• Review essays and research drafts, providing clear and constructive feedback
• Suggest improvements in scientific argumentation, clarity, and academic rigour
• Guide students on referencing, citations, and academic standards
• Introduce tools such as LaTeX and Overleaf where appropriate
• Ensure consistent progress throughout the programme

Required (Skills & Capabilities)

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a Master’s or early-stage PhD in Medicine, Biology, Neuroscience, Biomedical Sciences, or a related field
• Strong academic and research background within healthcare or life sciences
• Familiarity with academic literature review and scientific research methodologies
• Experience supporting or contributing to research projects, publications, or laboratory work
• Ability to explain complex scientific concepts clearly to students aged 13–23
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong judgement, professionalism, and attention to detail
