Summary: The Remote Network Engineer role involves managing a team of Level 1 network engineers and administrators while coordinating cross-functional projects and defining enterprise network strategies. The position requires oversight of hybrid networking and budget forecasting, along with contract negotiations and compliance management. This is a 3-month assignment starting in the first week of January, with specific work hours aligned to the East Coast Time Zone. Candidates must be available during these hours and are subject to drug and background checks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the task force of Level 1 network engineers and admins.
- Drive training, mentoring, and performance reviews.
- Coordinate cross-functional projects with system, cloud, and security teams.
- Define enterprise network strategy (LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, wireless, security).
- Align network design with business continuity and scalability goals.
- Oversee hybrid networking (on-prem + cloud: Azure).
- Forecast network infrastructure budgets.
- Negotiate contracts with Cisco, Fortinet, VMware, and ISPs.
- Manage licensing and compliance for network hardware/software.
- High-level design for Cisco routing/switching, wireless, and security.
- Oversee Cisco Client deployments for NAC and identity-based access.
- Manage Fortinet SD-WAN, firewall clusters, and security policies.
- Enterprise wireless strategy using Cisco WLC, DNA Center, and RF planning.
- Implement secure onboarding and guest access via Client.
- Azure networking governance (VNets, ExpressRoute, VPN Gateways).
- Hybrid connectivity and security integration.
- Define automation standards using Ansible, Python, and APIs.
- Drive adoption of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) for network provisioning.
- Implement Zero Trust and segmentation strategies.
Key Skills:
- Experience managing network engineering teams.
- Strong knowledge of enterprise network strategies including LAN/WAN, SD-WAN, and security.
- Proficiency in Azure networking and hybrid cloud solutions.
