Summary: The Remote Ellucian / Banner Programmer is responsible for overseeing the Banner programming team and managing programming tasks related to the development and maintenance of academic enterprise systems. This role involves direct supervision of support specialists, project management assistance, and collaboration with the Banner team for system maintenance and training. The position requires a strong technical background in Ellucian Banner products and programming languages. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills are essential for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Directly supervise Banner Support Specialists, Banner Functional Support Specialists, Enterprise System Integrators, and other programming positions.
  • Assist the Dean of Institutional Technology with management of IT projects, including tracking, scheduling, prioritization, and organization of resources.
  • Support the maintenance of Ellucian Banner Course Modules and enterprise-level services and related integrations, in collaboration with the rest of the Banner team.
  • Provide support and test remote database administration (DBA).
  • Provide supplemental training, advice and information to technical and functional personnel within the college as needed.
  • Maintain skills in new Banner releases.
  • Document system configurations, reports, programs, and procedures related to general functions.

Key Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
  • 3 years of programming and analytical experience supporting computing users in a networked environment.
  • Experience with Ellucian Banner products (Banner, Blackboard, Brightspace).
  • Experience in Windows and Linux or UNIX operating systems preferred.
  • Application development experience using SQL, PL/SQL, C, Perl, HTML, Java, or similar programming languages.
  • Understanding of the security issues involved in maintaining and safeguarding institutional data.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, research and problem-solving abilities.
