Summary: The Release Train Engineer will coach Agile Release Trains (ARTs) by facilitating events, optimizing flow, and driving relentless improvement. This role requires strong leadership skills to support teams in problem-solving and decision-making while ensuring alignment with enterprise strategy. The position involves remote work with quarterly travel to DE/PA/DC for PI Planning events. The ideal candidate will possess relevant SAFe certifications and experience in Agile methodologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coach the ART with powerful questions and support Scrum Masters/Team Coaches in ART and Team Events.
  • Establish pull systems and flow measures to optimize value delivery.
  • Drive relentless improvement through assessments and promote built-in quality practices.
  • Act as a servant leader, supporting teams in problem identification and decision-making.
  • Facilitate PI Planning logistics and coach alignment to enterprise strategy.
  • Support PI execution by tracking progress and facilitating synchronization events.

Job Overview

Coach the ART:

-Coach with powerful questions
-Coach Scrum Masters/Team Coaches in ART and Team Events and practices
-Coach ART roles including system architects, product management, business owners, etc.

Optimize Flow:

-Establish pull systems to optimize the flow of value
-Establish ART flow measures
-Improve the flow of value
-Facilitate value stream mapping
-Reduce or eliminate cross-team dependencies

Improve Relentlessly:

-Drive ART relentless improvement plan and roadmap through AgilityInsights TeamHealth Assessments and Inspect & Adapt events
-Promote built-in quality practices in Coach, PO syncs and CoPs
-Collaborate with Value Management Office and Lean-Agile transformation team

Act as a Servant Leader:

-Listen to and support teams in problem identification and decision-making

Facilitate PI Planning:

-Help the ART Prepare for PI Planning (Logistics, ART backlog Readiness, WSJF, etc)
-Facilitate the 2-day in-person PI planning event
-Coach alignment to Enterprise Strategy and cascaded OKRs

Support PI Execution:

-Track progress; ART Predictability Measure; Velocity; Cycle Time, and other Flow metrics
-Facilitate ART synchronization events (Coach Sync, ART, Sync, Architect Sync, PO Sync, I&A, IP Iteration, System Demo)
-Support ART backlog refinement
-Promote DevOps and continuous delivery
-Assist Business Owners in understanding their role and assigning business value
-Coordinate planning efforts with other ARTs
