Summary: The R Programmer role involves supporting a technical assessment and training SAS users in R, while developing an R programming template library in collaboration with Siemens users. The position requires evaluating current biostatistics processes and providing recommendations for R implementation and training. The consultant will also support the transition to R by reviewing validation plans and providing input on standard operating procedures. This role is remote and outside of IR35 regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct an initial technical assessment of team capabilities, systems, and processes.
- Evaluate technical competencies and tasks of the biostatistics team and assess training needs for R transition.
- Assess current data management and biostatistical systems and processes.
- Provide recommendations for improvements needed to facilitate transition to R.
- Provide recommendations for R software implementation, including IDE selection and version control.
- Develop training content to establish basic competency in R language for 26 users.
- Support review of validation plans, protocols, test cases, and reports.
- Provide input to development of standard operating procedures regarding R version and package version control.
- Consult on technical challenges that arise during implementation.
Key Skills:
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Software/Electronics Engineering, Information Systems, or a closely related field.
- Experience with R programming and training.
- Knowledge of biostatistics processes and data management systems.
- Ability to evaluate technical competencies and provide recommendations.
- Strong communication and consulting skills.

Identified R Consultant will be responsible for supporting an initial technical assessment, training SAS users in the R language, developing in conjunction with Siemens users a R programming template library, and supporting implementation of R in current biostatistics processes. Tasks may include but are not limited to the following:
Conduct an initial technical assessment of team capabilities, systems, and processes. Evaluate technical competencies and tasks of the biostatistics team and assess training needs for R transition. Assess current data management and biostatistical systems and processes. Provide recommendations for improvements needed to facilitate transition to R. Provide recommendations for R software implementation: IDE Selection R version control. Package selection and package version control Validation Training Based on the competencies and tasks evaluated in the technical assessment, provide training and content to establish basic competency in R language for 26 users. Implementation Support review of validation plans, protocols, test cases, and reports. Provide input to development of standard operating procedures with respect to R version and package version control, programming requirements, and integration with data pipeline. Provide consulting on as needed basis for technical challenges that arise during implementation
Education: At least a bachelor s degree (or equivalent experience) in Computer Science, Software/Electronics Engineering, Information Systems, or closely related field is required.
