Summary: Opportunity for experienced Python engineers to join a large-scale transformation programme aimed at modernising a Legacy automation platform into a scalable, cloud-native DevOps environment. The role involves refactoring existing automation scripts into a Python-based microservices architecture and contributing to the design of a new automation framework. Candidates should be comfortable working in complex environments and have a strong background in Python development. This position is remote and classified as inside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Rebuild and refactor Legacy automation scripts into Python-based microservices
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of a new automation framework
  • Analyse existing functionality and determine what should be retained, refactored, or removed
  • Integrate services with infrastructure and network systems using APIs and SSH
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure scalable and maintainable solutions
  • Follow and contribute to DevOps best practices including CI/CD and version control
  • Support knowledge transfer and handover to internal development teams

Key Skills:

  • Strong Python development experience, ideally in automation or Back End systems
  • Solid understanding of DevOps practices (CI/CD, Git workflows, testing)
  • Experience working with Linux environments and Bash Scripting
  • Experience building or contributing to microservices architectures
  • Ability to develop reusable libraries and clean, maintainable code
  • Familiarity with API integrations (REST, SSH or similar)

Opportunity to join a large-scale transformation programme focused on modernising a Legacy automation platform into a scalable, cloud-native DevOps environment. The existing system is built on years of fragmented Scripting and requires a full refactor into a clean, maintainable Python-based microservices architecture.

This role will suit experienced Python engineers who are comfortable working in complex environments, refactoring Legacy systems, and contributing to the design of modern automation frameworks.
