Summary: The Public Policy Manager role involves tracking and assessing policy issues in the MENA region related to on-platform harm across various applications. The position requires proactive intervention, coordination with internal teams, and management of external partner requests. The role is remote and offers a temporary contract until December 2026. Candidates should possess relevant qualifications and experience in public policy or related fields, with strong communication skills in English and Arabic.
Key Responsibilities:
- Track and assess policy issues in the MENA region regarding risks of on-platform harm across all Family of Apps (FoAs).
- Flag emerging risks and trends to the Public Policy team for proactive intervention.
- Triage inbound content-related requests from external partners across the region.
- Coordinate with relevant internal teams to follow up and resolve cases efficiently.
- Escalate any blockages or unresolved issues to sub-regional heads or designated country Points of Contact (PoCs).
- Ensure proper documentation, closure, and external response for each case.
- Support MENA Policy Stakeholders in resolving access issues to FoAs.
- Manage account escalations from external partners, including verification and account ownership tasks such as facilitating access restoration.
- Maintain the team calendar, managing offsite dates, leave schedules, and key regional events.
- Liaise with the Strategy & Operations team on budgetary matters to ensure compliance and efficiency.
- Manage contracts, invoicing, and quarterly budgetary reporting for the team.
Key Skills:
- Degree in public policy, law, politics, international relations, economics, or a related field or equivalent relevant experience.
- Professional experience in policy, tech, or a similar field.
- Knowledge of tech policy issues including AI, privacy, and online safety.
- Understanding of social, cultural, and political systems in the MENA region.
- Excellent communication and persuasive skills in both English and Arabic.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a matrix environment.
- Strong organisational and project management skills.
- Experience in policy, operations, or content moderation within tech or social media platforms.
- Strong stakeholder management abilities.
- Ability to work independently and handle sensitive issues with discretion.
- Familiarity with the MENA region and its policy landscape is a plus.
