Summary: The Project Manager for Turbo Services at Sulzer will oversee high-value, technically complex projects related to steam turbines and compressors in the UK. Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all aspects of project execution including hardware, documentation, financials, dispute resolution, and customer satisfaction.
  • Evaluate customer needs and ensure alignment with service capabilities, pricing models, and profitability targets.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers to reduce risk, resolve issues, and identify growth opportunities.
  • Provide line management for Technical Field Authorities, fostering a culture of performance, development, and engagement.
  • Lead project launches, kick-off meetings, and handovers with clear documentation and accountability.
  • Monitor project budgets, invoicing, and profitability, ensuring timely close-out and full documentation.

Key Skills:

  • A recognised qualification in Engineering or equivalent experience in a related industry (steam turbine experience preferred).
  • Proven track record in managing complex engineering or industrial service projects.
  • Strong commercial acumen and experience in contract negotiation.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills—both customer and supplier-facing.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP (or similar ERP systems).

As part of this expansion, we’ve created a brand-new Project Manager role to oversee high-value, technically complex projects across the UK. This is more than just project delivery. You’ll be at the heart of our transformation, helping to establish a Turbo Centre of Excellence at our flagship Birmingham facility, which features one of the UK’s most advanced high-speed balancing machines. You’ll manage everything from commercial performance and customer satisfaction to technical documentation and dispute resolution—ensuring every project is delivered to the highest standards.

Your Impact

As Project Manager, you’ll take full ownership of assigned projects under the guidance of the Turbo Services Manager. You’ll ensure that all deliverables are met on time, within budget, and exceed customer expectations. You’ll also provide line management for our Technical Field Authorities, supporting their development, performance, and engagement.
