Summary: The Project Manager for National Gas Projects will be responsible for delivering integrated control and technology solutions across complex customer facilities, focusing on national gas projects. This role involves planning, executing, and managing project finances while ensuring compliance with client requirements and operational objectives. Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and execute projects in accordance with client specifications, contract agreements, and quality procedures.
  • Proactively manage project finances, including costs, cash flow, and cost-to-completion forecasts.
  • Provide accurate resource forecasts and ensure early visibility of potential risks and delays.
  • Support the project team in achieving compliance with client requirements and operational objectives.
  • Produce core project documentation, including project plans and risk registers.
  • Conduct regular financial reviews and update relevant systems to reflect project health.
  • Implement the monthly application and follow-up process for timely invoice payments.
  • Produce monthly project overview reports for senior management review.

Key Skills:

  • Proven experience in a regulated industry, preferably in the gas sector.
  • History of managing large, multi-disciplined, integrated projects.
  • Ability to control projects as a P&L and manage change effectively.
  • Experience interpreting complex specifications and contract requirements.
  • Leadership experience in Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E) compliance.
  • Strong communication skills with operations teams, suppliers, and customers.
  • Recognized Project Management qualification or certification (e.g., APM/IPMA).
  • Experience with the NEC suite of contracts is advantageous.

Overview

This role is responsible for delivering integrated control and technology solutions across varied and complex customer facilities, with a focus on national gas projects. Typical work involves the design and build of new site installations, refurbishments, and asset refresh solutions, utilizing technologies like complex integrated security systems (CCTV, access control, intruder protection) and associated integration.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute projects in accordance with the Client specification, agreed contract, programme schedule, and quality procedures.
  • Proactively manage project finances, including costs, cash flow, and cost-to-completion forecasts to maximise profitability.
  • Provide accurate resource forecasts and ensure early visibility of potential risks and delays to the programme by third parties, suppliers, and subcontractors.
  • Support the project team in achieving compliance with Client requirements and meeting the operational and business objectives of the project.
  • Produce all core project documentation, including project plans, deliverable schedules, and maintaining project risk registers with mitigating actions.
  • Carry out regular financial reviews and update the relevant systems to accurately reflect project health.
  • Implement the monthly application and follow-up process to ensure on-time payment of invoices and enhanced cash flow.
  • Produce a monthly project overview report for review by the Senior Management to include: procurement and performance of subcontractors, health and safety, compliance, and quality assurance.

Essential Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience of working in a regulated industry such as electricity, gas, rail, or nuclear, with experience in the gas sector preferred.
  • Demonstrated history of managing large, multi-disciplined, integrated projects.
  • Proven ability to control projects as a P&L, effectively manage change, and identify and mitigate risk and opportunities.
  • Ability to interpret complex specifications and contract requirements to deliver fully compliant solutions and execution plans.
  • Experience in the leadership and effective implementation of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E) requirements to company policy and current legislation.
  • Experience of working within operations teams, able to plan works and communicate well with the team, suppliers, and customers.
  • A recognized Project Management qualification or certification (e.g., APM/IPMA).
  • Experience of working with the NEC suite of contracts is highly advantageous.
