ABOUT THE ROLE

Our client is seeking an experienced Technical Project Manager for a part-time, remote contract role to lead a large-scale data and reporting transformation initiative.

In this highly visible position, you will drive project planning, stakeholder communication, and execution for a complex migration program focused on legacy technology modernization.

You will coordinate a small team of data and BI engineers, oversee the decommissioning of legacy reporting platforms, and ensure comprehensive migration coverage.

This role offers significant autonomy, direct leadership visibility, and the opportunity to influence a business-critical transformation in a fast-paced environment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Own and manage the end-to-end rollout plan for decommissioning a legacy reporting platform, including timeline development, milestone tracking, and status reporting
  • Segment and manage communication strategies for distinct stakeholder groups, including self-service power users, teams requiring full report rebuilds, and large-scale end-user/field communications
  • Track migration progress against a full report inventory, proactively identifying and closing coverage gaps before they impact deadlines
  • Coordinate day-to-day work of a small delivery team of data and BI engineers, including light Scrum Master-style facilitation
  • Guide and mentor entry-level engineers joining the team, supporting their onboarding and skill development
  • Escalate technical direction and larger scope decisions to the hiring manager while independently managing timeline and scheduling calls
  • Lead planning for a secondary, sequential decommission effort following completion of the primary platform migration
  • Deliver regular status updates and executive-level communication on program health and progress

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 5+ years of experience managing enterprise IT programs, system migrations, or platform consolidation initiatives
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-audience stakeholder communication across technical and non-technical groups
  • Proven ownership of program artifacts, including rollout plans, timelines, and statgap tracking
  • Working knowledge of data warehouse and BI reporting concepts sufficient to communicate credibly with data engineers
  • Experience mentoring or directly developing junior/entry-level team members
  • Comfortable operating as a client-embedded, standalone resource with a direct reporting line and minimal internal PMO support
  • Experience with BI or data warehouse migration projects, particularly involving Cognos, Tableau, or Snowflake (preferred)
  • Scrum Master certification (CSM) or equivalent Agile/SAFe certification (preferred)
