Summary: The SEND Project Manager will lead the delivery of a major SEND transformation programme for a local authority in the North West, managing multiple workstreams and establishing a project management framework. This role requires collaboration with various stakeholders and a focus on achieving programme outcomes while maintaining high standards of documentation. The position is primarily remote and full-time, with a duration of 3 to 6 months. The successful candidate will report to the Head of SEND and Programme Director.
Key Responsibilities:
- Set up and manage multiple workstreams and delivery groups (6 to 8 projects)
- Establish and implement a PM framework for future Project Managers to adopt
- Create Terms of Reference for workstreams and task-and-finish groups
- Support workstream leads in prioritising activities and managing delivery
- Take on direct project responsibilities where needed to reduce pressure on teams
- Deliver clear milestone reporting and maintain high standards of project documentation
- Work at pace to prevent delays which could impact programme outcomes and financial targets
Key Skills:
- Strong knowledge of the SEND landscape
- Proven experience in setting up and managing complex project structures
- Excellent organisational skills and familiarity with project management tools
- Strong problem-solving ability and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
- Ability to balance financial savings with quality and outcomes for children and young people
- Experience working with multi-agency partners, including schools and local services
- Positive, can-do attitude and a flexible team player

I'm working with a local authority in the North West that’s entering the delivery phase of a major SEND transformation programme, backed by DfE mitigations. They’re now looking for an experienced SEND Project Manager to lead and structure delivery across multiple workstreams.
Overview: Reporting into the Head of SEND and Programme Director, you’ll set up and manage 6–8 project workstreams, including task-and-finish groups. You’ll also establish a project management framework to support the wider programme and future delivery.
