Summary: The IT Operations Application Maintenance Product Owner is tasked with overseeing the Pro2SQL database replication application, ensuring it meets business needs through effective database integration and management. This role involves collaboration with stakeholders to develop product roadmaps, document requirements, and manage the product lifecycle from conception to post-production. The Product Owner is responsible for maintaining data integrity and consistency while delivering high value to the organization. Continuous engagement with stakeholders is essential to align the application with business goals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with stakeholders to understand database integrations and replication needs and requirements.
  • Document integration and replication requirements, and implementation plan.
  • Engage with database and application development teams for replication and data consistency requirements.
  • Work with support teams to improve data synchronization and replication efficiency.
  • Own and refine product requirements and user stories.
  • Evaluate and prioritize the backlog of features.
  • Determine product capability roadmap with the IT Operations team and business sponsor.
  • Assess the need for changes or enhancements in database replication, working with stakeholders.
  • Manage the product backlog for Pro2SQL replication features and issues.
  • Ensure the design and implementation of database replication is complete and valid.
  • Document business requirements, user stories, and configuration changes.
  • Maintain JIRA board for database related projects, creating appropriate stories and features.
  • Engage business stakeholders for user acceptance testing.
  • Produce Release Notes focusing on database replication updates.
  • Ensure team adherence to timelines and quality standards.
  • Maintain continuous engagement with stakeholders, ensuring solutions align with Pro2SQL integration and replication needs.
  • Facilitate communication between stakeholders for database replication-related work.
  • Manage product backlog aligned with database replication outcomes and customer value.
  • Gather and analyze user feedback during rollout phases and make necessary adjustments to the strategy.
  • Ensure the quality of integrated systems meets predetermined standards.

Key Skills:

  • Deep understanding of OpenEdge database architecture, including Change Data Capture (CDC) and trigger-based replication.
  • Familiarity with OpenEdge ABL (Advanced Business Language) and schema design.
  • Knowledge of Pro2 replication flow: ReplQueue, CDC threads, multi-threaded replication, and bulk loading.
  • Understanding of Pro2's UX dashboard, Replication Wizard, and job runner features.
  • Strong grasp of Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle database structures, performance tuning, and replication targets.
  • Experience with Azure SQL Server (VM-hosted preferred over serverless due to performance limitations).
  • Ability to design normalized and denormalized schemas, optimize indexes, and manage large datasets for performance and scalability.
  • Skilled in diagnosing data sync issues, latency problems, and system errors across Pro2SQL, and SQL environments.
  • Strong command of SQL Server, including writing complex queries, stored procedures, views, and performance tuning.
  • Experience with data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes between external systems using Pro2SQL or similar tools.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Project Management, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

The IT Operations Application Maintenance Product Owner is responsible for understanding application capabilities and how they support business needs. This critical role will focus on database integration and management of our client's Pro2SQL database replication application. The Product Owner collaborates with the IT Manager and business sponsor to develop the product roadmap and documents business rules, interface requirements, and product user stories. A key initiative includes implementing and managing Pro2 database integrations and ensuring data integrity and consistency.

The Product Owner is continuously involved in the product's lifecycle, from conception to post-production phases, ensuring the Pro2 database replication application aligns with business goals and delivers high value.
