Summary: Value Technology is seeking a Progress OpenEdge Production Support specialist to ensure the smooth operation of OpenEdge-based applications and provide effective solutions to production issues. The role requires expertise in OpenEdge architecture, strong troubleshooting skills, and collaboration with cross-functional teams. The position is remote and full-time/contract based. Candidates should possess a deep understanding of OpenEdge technologies and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support for Progress OpenEdge applications in a production environment.
- Monitor system performance and identify potential issues proactively.
- Troubleshoot and resolve production incidents, including analyzing logs, debugging code, and implementing fixes.
- Collaborate with development, database, and infrastructure teams to resolve complex issues.
- Develop and maintain documentation for support processes and troubleshooting procedures.
- Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24x7 support as needed.

- Perform root cause analysis for production incidents and implement preventative measures.
- Manage and prioritize support requests and incidents according to severity and impact.

- Automate routine tasks and processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Participate in the planning and execution of system upgrades and maintenance activities.
- Contribute to the development of knowledge base articles and training materials for support staff.
Key Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
- Proven experience in supporting Progress OpenEdge applications in a production environment.
- Strong knowledge of OpenEdge architecture, including AppServers, databases, and networking.
- Proficiency in Progress 4GL programming language.
- Experience with OpenEdge database administration, including performance tuning, backups, and recovery.
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
