Summary: The Procurement Manager role is a pivotal position within a successful business, focusing on developing a top-tier procurement function to source sustainable and cost-effective raw materials for the company's operations in the UK and Ireland. This position involves strategic decision-making, risk management, and collaboration with various teams to optimize supply chains and enhance operational efficiency. Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute a raw materials sourcing strategy aligned with the business strategy.
- Deliver timely, evidence-based information to support business decision-making.
- Manage the company’s approved list of leased vehicles and fuel sourcing options.
- Identify risks in supply continuity and market volatility, implementing mitigation strategies.
- Contribute to the company strategic plan and prepare monthly reports for the executive board.
- Establish a centralized procurement function for departmental overhead spend.
- Develop a reliable framework of hauliers for UK and Ireland operations.
- Support the company’s energy objectives and contribute to decarbonisation planning.
- Enhance systems for MRP automation to ensure timely delivery of raw materials.
- Make strategic decisions using experience and stakeholder input.
- Collaborate with supply chain teams to achieve customer service levels and OTIF targets.
- Support high-quality capital expenditure solutions to maximize ROI.
- Lead health, safety, and well-being initiatives to foster a safety-first culture.
- Inspire and develop the procurement team while promoting company values.
- Ensure excellent customer service throughout the customer journey.
Key Skills:
- Demonstrable continuous improvement skills using recognized frameworks.
- Graduate with CIPS/MCIPS qualifications (desirable).
- Minimum of 5 years’ management-level experience in supply chain management.
- Experience in international procurement for manufacturing environments.
- Strong leadership skills including delegation, mentoring, and coaching.
- Ability to work strategically and operationally.
- Strong customer focus and commercial acumen.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills at senior management level.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
- Strong influencing skills across all levels of the organization.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills.
- Flexibility to work hours and travel as required.
