Summary: The Procurement Manager role is a pivotal position within a successful business, focusing on developing a top-tier procurement function to source sustainable and cost-effective raw materials for the company's operations in the UK and Ireland. This position involves strategic decision-making, risk management, and collaboration with various teams to optimize supply chains and enhance operational efficiency. The role also emphasizes leadership in fostering a safety-first culture and continuous improvement within the procurement team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a raw materials sourcing strategy aligned with the business strategy.
  • Deliver timely, evidence-based information to support business decision-making.
  • Manage the company’s approved list of leased vehicles and fuel sourcing options.
  • Identify risks in supply continuity and market volatility, implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Contribute to the company strategic plan and prepare monthly reports for the executive board.
  • Establish a centralized procurement function for departmental overhead spend.
  • Develop a reliable framework of hauliers for UK and Ireland operations.
  • Support the company’s energy objectives and contribute to decarbonisation planning.
  • Enhance systems for MRP automation to ensure timely delivery of raw materials.
  • Make strategic decisions using experience and stakeholder input.
  • Collaborate with supply chain teams to achieve customer service levels and OTIF targets.
  • Support high-quality capital expenditure solutions to maximize ROI.
  • Lead health, safety, and well-being initiatives to foster a safety-first culture.
  • Inspire and develop the procurement team while promoting company values.
  • Ensure excellent customer service throughout the customer journey.

Key Skills:

  • Demonstrable continuous improvement skills using recognized frameworks.
  • Graduate with CIPS/MCIPS qualifications (desirable).
  • Minimum of 5 years’ management-level experience in supply chain management.
  • Experience in international procurement for manufacturing environments.
  • Strong leadership skills including delegation, mentoring, and coaching.
  • Ability to work strategically and operationally.
  • Strong customer focus and commercial acumen.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills at senior management level.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
  • Strong influencing skills across all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with strong Excel skills.
  • Flexibility to work hours and travel as required.
  • Full current driving license.
