Process Quality Engineer, ASPICE - REMOTE

Posted Today by Sensiple Inc.

Job Description

Client is taking an automotive software program from ISO 9001 to Automotive SPICE Capability Level 2 to meet a customer commitment.

We have no process quality assurance function today.

This role builds it.

The Process Quality Engineer owns SUP.1 Quality Assurance: providing independent assurance that defined processes are followed and that work products conform, and holding the objective evidence an external assessor will examine.

Responsibilities

  • Process Conformance: Verify that engineering activities follow the defined processes and that work products conform to them.
  • Independent Review & Sign-off: Review at defined handoff points, and grant or withhold sign-off before downstream work begins.
  • Non-conformance Management: Raise non-conformances, track them to closure, and escalate where they are not resolved.
  • Traceability: Establish and maintain bidirectional traceability from requirements through design to verification, and confirm it is complete in both directions.
  • Assessment Evidence: Assemble, control and maintain the objective evidence required for assessment, so it exists when asked for rather than being created retrospectively.
  • Process Deployment: Work with process owners in each area to put defined processes into practice, and coach teams on what conformance requires day to day.
  • Process Feedback: Identify where process definitions do not fit reality and feed that back for revision.
  • Assessment Support: Prepare the organization and the evidence base for pre-assessment and formal CL2 assessment, support the assessment team during execution, and drive closure of findings.
  • Reporting: Report quality status, trends and risks to engineering management on a regular cadence.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Quality or Industrial Engineering. International equivalents accepted.
  • 10+ years in automotive, embedded or software engineering.
  • 5+ years in process quality assurance, process improvement or a comparable process-focused role.
  • Has established process assurance in an organization that did not previously have it ASPICE, ISO 26262, IATF 16949 or a comparable framework and has taken process areas through a formal ASPICE assessment as the person responsible for the evidence.
  • Working knowledge of Automotive SPICE PAM 4.0, specifically SUP.1 Quality Assurance and the Level 2 process attributes (PA 2.1 Performance Management, PA2.2 Work Product Management).
  • Practical grounding in the SWE, SUP, MAN and ACQ process areas.
  • Configuration management, change request management and problem resolution practice, including baselining and traceability.
  • The role requires declining sign-off when a work product is not ready and making that stick, while keeping engineering teams engaged rather than defensive.
  • Jira, Confluence and Git in a working engineering environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • ML or AI development context, particularly the MLE process areas and ML data management.
  • iNTACS Provisional Assessor certification, or eligibility to obtain it.
  • Automotive OEM supplier environment; exposure to OEM supplier audits.
  • ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 quality management systems.
  • Prior participation in a formal ASPICE assessment, on either side.
