Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled Oracle Database Architect to lead a critical infrastructure migration project, focusing on migrating mission-critical databases from Oracle Exadata/ExaCC to standard Oracle RAC on Linux. The role involves end-to-end architectural design, hands-on execution, and the development of zero-downtime migration strategies. The ideal candidate will also optimize the architecture for on-premises or cloud-native Linux environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architecture Design: Design highly available, scalable Oracle RAC on Linux architectures that replicate or improve upon existing Exadata/ExaCC performance and resilience levels.
- Migration Strategy: Formulate and execute comprehensive out-of-place and in-place migration strategies using Oracle tools (e.g., Zero Downtime Migration - ZDM, Data Guard, and RMAN).
- Performance Tuning: Optimize database tiering, storage mapping (ASM), and Linux OS-level parameters for optimal Cache Fusion and interconnect performance.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with network, systems, and storage teams to build the foundational Linux and Grid Infrastructure.
- Documentation & Governance: Establish post-migration support procedures, disaster recovery (MAA) frameworks, and best practice runbooks.
Key Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent.
- Experience: 10+ years of core Oracle DBA experience, with at least 5 years specifically focused on Exadata and/or ExaCC architecture and migration.
- OS Expertise: Deep, hands-on expertise in administering Oracle Grid Infrastructure and Oracle RAC on Linux (Oracle Linux, RHEL, or SLES).
- Migration Tooling: Proven track record of architecting large-scale database migrations; proficiency with Oracle ZDM, Transportable Tablespaces, and Data Guard.
- High Availability: Deep understanding of Oracle Maximum Availability Architecture (MAA) reference tiers and best practices.
- Soft Skills: Strong leadership capabilities to guide junior DBAs and communicate effectively with stakeholders across the business.
