Summary: A Principal Electrical Engineer is sought for a remote role with occasional travel to Manchester, London, Newcastle, or Glasgow. The position involves leading and supporting the development of innovative engineering solutions in the Energy Transition industry, focusing on low-carbon projects. The contract is rolling for 6 months and falls inside IR35 regulations. The role requires significant experience in electrical design and a relevant engineering degree.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and support the development of practical, cost-effective and innovative engineering solutions in collaboration with wider project teams.
  • Deliver electrical engineering projects from early-stage feasibility through to detailed design.
  • Prepare and develop electrical deliverables including single line diagrams, cable calculations, cable block diagrams, plant layouts, cable routing, containment design, switchgear configuration philosophies and bills of materials/quantities.
  • Assist in developing equipment package designs and participate in technical evaluations of vendor proposals.
  • Assess the condition, performance and risks associated with electrical assets, identifying opportunities and intervention needs.
  • Contributing to tender submittals for EC&I work, as well as multidisciplinary tenders.

Key Skills:

  • A relevant engineering degree.
  • Working towards chartership.
  • Significant work experience in electrical design, operation, maintenance or testing.
  • The capability and motivation to take a lead role in developing electrical deliverables or assessing assets under construction or in operation.
  • Strong knowledge of the design, construction and operation of power and energy projects.
  • Proven understanding of the design process, including working with scopes, design concepts, calculations and documentation, and/or experience with commissioning, operation, maintenance and testing of medium- and high-voltage systems and equipment.

A Principal Electrical Engineer is required to join a design consultancy on a 6-month rolling contract. The role is remote, but you MUST be willing to occasionally travel to either Manchester, London, Newcastle or Glasgow (dependent on your location). This role will be working in the Energy Transition industry working on low-carbon projects at all stages of maturity, including Feasibility Studies, Concept Design, FEED, Value Engineering and Detailed Design.
