Summary: The Principal DevOps Engineer will provide technical leadership to a cross-functional team, focusing on translating architectural designs into actionable tasks and driving data-driven decision-making. The role requires hands-on experience in back-end development, particularly with Java and AWS services, while championing agile practices and mentoring team members. The position is remote and requires active security clearance. The engineer will foster a collaborative and innovative culture within the team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Translate architectural designs to task backlogs and determine the optimal order for delivery.
- Formulate and test hypotheses on technical approaches to diverse problems.
- Define technical tasks and estimate implementation efforts.
- Provide evidence to support data-driven decisions for product teams.
- Code with maintainability in mind and champion agile best practices.
- Mentor colleagues and collaborate with QAs and Business Analysts.
- Facilitate problem-solving and lead the team in implementing solutions.
- Build strong relationships with architects and support team members in various capacities.
Key Skills:
- Proficient in Java and Spring Microservices.
- Experience with AWS native services (e.g., Lambda, RDS, Open Search, API Gateway).
- Familiarity with Kubernetes and building REST APIs.
- Knowledge of messaging technologies like SNS/SQS.
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tools and agile software development methodologies.
- Experience in test-driven development (TDD) and collaborative development practices.
- Familiarity with Docker, REACT, Node.JS, and version control using GIT.
