Summary: The Principal DevOps Engineer role focuses on enhancing the delivery platform and engineering workflows through design, optimization, and governance. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and optimise CI/CD pipelines and release processes
- Own and enhance engineering and project onboarding
- Review and assess current architecture for fitness-for-purpose and scalability
- Define and implement best practices for DevOps, automation, and delivery
- Lead the setup and optimisation of Jira for tracking, reporting, and governance
- Support the sizing and structuring of delivery teams for upcoming projects
- Improve developer experience, tooling, and productivity
- Work closely with engineering, product, and leadership teams
- Provide technical leadership and strategic input on platform direction
- Document processes, standards, and architectural decisions
Key Skills:
- Strong background in DevOps, platform engineering, or infrastructure architecture
- Proven experience building and running CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps)
- Experience designing scalable cloud-based delivery platforms (Azure preferred)
- Solid understanding of modern software delivery practices (CI/CD, IaC, GitOps)
- Experience implementing and managing Jira for reporting and governance
- Strong architectural review and systems design experience
- Ability to operate at both strategic and hands-on technical levels
- Excellent stakeholder communication and leadership skills
- Comfortable working in fast-paced, delivery-focused environments
