Summary: Our client, a leader in the global automotive systems industry, is seeking a Principal AI Software Engineer (Java) for an initial 6-month contract with potential for permanent employment. The role involves implementing AI solutions within a high-functioning team focused on AI-forward projects. This position is remote with occasional site visits and operates inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Implement AI solutions and technologies in daily work.
- Create agents and code that can run on production as AI agents.
- Rewrite customer-facing software/platforms.
- Own end-to-end, scalable architectures, both cloud-native and on-premises.
- Demonstrate exceptional problem-solving and engineering judgment.
- Align strategies with product and business outcomes.
Key Skills:
- Deep expertise with Java, Spring, and AWS.
- Hands-on production-grade experience or proof of concept for LLMs.

Our client - a global automotive systems industry leader - is looking to hire an Principal AI Software Engineer (Java) to join them on an initial 6-month contract, with a view to transition to permanent employment. This role will be operting as part of a high-functioning team focused on AI-forward projects in which you will be implementing AI solutions and technologies, as well as incorporating AI into how your work on a daily basis (for example, Claude Code, Copilot). This role is remote-working (with some occasional visits to site), and will be operating inside IR35.
Requirements:
- Deep expertise with Java / Spring / AWS
- Hands on production grade experience - or least PoC for LLM's
- They will be creating agents and creating code that can run on production as AI agents
- Customer facing software/platform re-write experience
- Deep technical expertise in modern and AI-driven systems (engineering and architecture levels)
- Ownership of end-to-end, scalable architectures (some cloud-native, some on-prem still)
- Exceptional problem-solving and engineering judgment
- Strategic alignment with product and business outcomes
