Overview
We are seeking a mid-to-senior level PowerShell Developer with strong operational and engineering experience to support the Messaging & Collaboration team. This role has evolved from a project-based scripting function into a hybrid production support, automation engineering, and platform support role.
The individual will be responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and supporting a portfolio of PowerShell scripts and automation solutions that underpin Messaging services across Exchange (On-Premises and Online), Microsoft 365, and related systems. This role requires both hands-on development and day-to-day operational ownership of existing solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Own, maintain, and enhance all existing PowerShell scripts developed and supported by the Messaging team
- Refactor legacy scripts for performance, reliability, and maintainability
- Ensure proper error handling, logging, and resilience across all automation
- Provide ongoing operational support for automation workflows and scheduled jobs
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues impacting script execution, data integrity, or downstream processes
- Participate in incident response and root cause analysis for Messaging-related automation failures
- Partner with project teams on Messaging-related initiatives (e.g., migrations, platform changes, compliance initiatives)
- Adapt and extend scripts to support new business or technical requirements
- Ensure automation readiness and supportability for new solutions prior to production deployment
- Design and develop new PowerShell-based automation solutions aligned to Messaging and collaboration platforms
- Integrate with Exchange Online, Exchange On Premises, Active Directory, Microsoft Graph, Entra ID, and other M365 services
- Support data extraction, transformation, and delivery workflows (including flat files and system integrations)
- Support data flows into downstream systems (e.g., SQL, integration platforms)
- Collaborate with integration teams on data format, delivery, and orchestration approaches
Required Skills and Experience
- Advanced PowerShell scripting expertise, including modular design, error handling, and performance optimization
- Strong experience with Exchange (On-Premises and Online)
- Strong experience with Microsoft Graph API
- Strong experience with Entra ID / identity-related automation
- Experience supporting production automation environments, including monitoring and troubleshooting
- Familiarity with hybrid Microsoft 365 environments and migration scenarios
- Experience integrating PowerShell outputs with SQL or other data platforms
- Understanding of scheduling/orchestration tools (e.g., Task Scheduler, Azure Automation, ADF)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Azure Automation, Azure Functions, or similar platforms
- Experience with Entra ID and M365 services, including Exchange Online.
- Experience with Experience with Exchange Server (On Premises)
- Familiarity with compliance, retention, and Messaging governance use cases
- Experience working in enterprise environments with change control and operational rigor
