Summary: The role of PowerBuilder Developer/Programmer involves assisting with enhancements and defect fixes for legacy PowerBuilder applications within the MDH Environmental Health Division. The position requires collaboration with various teams to review and update application states, manage changes, and potentially work on future Java migrations. Extensive experience with PowerBuilder is essential for understanding the legacy systems involved.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with application enhancements and defect fixes for legacy PowerBuilder applications.
- Collaborate with the MNIT/MDH Environmental Health Team and Business Leads.
- Perform review/update of current state, scope clarification, and requirements review.
- Conduct testing, code review, change management, and release management.
- Manage source code and participate in sprint reviews and planning.
- Estimate effort for tasks and projects.
- Work on future state Java migrations/applications as needed.

The resource will assist with application enhancements and defect fixes for legacy PowerBuilder applications within various sections of the MDH Environmental Health Division including Drinking Water Protection and Well Management. The legacy applications are the Minnesota Drinking Water Information System (MNDWIS); Accreditation, Certification, and Enforcement System (ACES); Wells Legacy Desktop Application; County Well Index; and Water Chemistry. The resource will work closely with the MNIT/MDH Environmental Health Team, MDH Environmental Health Division Business Leads, and MNIT/MDH Project Management Office to perform review/update of current state, scope clarification, requirements review, testing, code review, change management / release management, source code management, sprint review, sprint planning, and estimation of effort. The resource may also be called upon to work on future state Java migrations/applications.
The ideal resource will have extensive PowerBuilder experience and will be able to quickly understand the technology, frameworks, strengths, and weaknesses of legacy systems.
