Summary: The PowerBI Developer role focuses on leading the migration of reports from Cognos to Power BI, enhancing performance and usability. The position involves designing data models, developing Power BI solutions, and collaborating with stakeholders to meet clinical and operational needs. The developer will also ensure data integration and governance while optimizing data pipelines. This role is remote and classified as outside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the conversion and migration of Cognos ReportNet/BI reports into Power BI, ensuring performance, accuracy, and usability improvements.
  • Redesign legacy reports into modern, interactive dashboards aligned with stakeholder requirements.
  • Design and maintain Power BI semantic models optimized with star schema (fact/dimension) structures.
  • Evaluate when to apply snowflake schema for normalized dimensions and performance tuning.
  • Ensure models are scalable, high-performing, and aligned with BI governance standards.
  • Build and manage datasets and dataflows (Gen2) within Power BI/Fabric, enabling incremental refresh and large-scale data ingestion.
  • Develop advanced DAX measures, calculated groups, and calculation items (via Tabular Editor) to support reusable time intelligence and reduce redundancy.
  • Create dashboards, KPIs, and visualizations that are intuitive, accurate, and aligned with clinical/business needs.
  • Partner with healthcare users to gather requirements and define key clinical and operational KPIs.
  • Produce wireframes/mockups to validate dashboard design before development.
  • Translate complex data into clear insights for non-technical audiences.
  • Support integration of data from Epic (EHR), EMR, claims systems, and ERP platforms.
  • Collaborate with data engineers and architects to ensure proper ETL, pipelines, and governance.
  • Monitor and optimize scheduled refreshes and data pipelines.

Key Skills:
