Summary: The Power Systems Consultant role involves supporting grid-connected energy projects through various development phases, focusing on delivering EMT and RMS studies, ensuring grid compliance, and collaborating with OEMs for effective outcomes. The position requires a strong technical background in electrical engineering and extensive experience in modeling and analysis. The consultant will produce technical documentation, respond to stakeholder queries, and maintain quality standards across projects. This is a fully remote position based in the United Kingdom.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop, validate, and maintain EMT and RMS models for relevant assets, including WTGs, PPCs, STATCOMs, and associated systems.
- Plan and execute design and Grid Code compliance studies, covering small-disturbance analysis and fault scenarios.
- Produce clear, structured, and audit-ready technical documentation for internal review and external submission.
- Support grid-connection workstreams and respond to technical queries from stakeholders.
- Interface directly with OEMs on model provisioning, validation, parameterisation, and updates.
- Summarise study outcomes, identify risks, and recommend mitigation measures.
- Ensure consistent quality and compliance with company standards across multiple projects.
Key Skills:
- Degree in Electrical Engineering / Power Systems Engineering (BEng, MSc, or PhD) or equivalent.
- Minimum 5 years’ hands-on experience delivering EMT studies using PSCAD, including relevant add-ons and analysis modules.
- Proven experience with DIgSILENT PowerFactory for steady-state and RMS analysis.
- Experience working with vendor-supplied models, including parameterisation and compliance validation.
- Scripting or automation capability to support study workflows and post-processing.
- Experience coordinating with OEMs for model delivery, validation, and revision control.
- Strong data confidentiality and information security practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear technical reports and stakeholder materials.
- Ability to work independently while adhering to client-defined methodologies, documentation standards, and QA processes.
