Power Platform / AI Engineer

Your new company

Hays are currently partnered with one of the largest, longstanding UK Government bodies - supporting them exclusively with the recruitment of a Power Platform / AI Engineer.

This organisation have set up a Technology function and team to sit within their finance team, supporting them from a Tech perspective on all infrastructure and data issues they face within the finance section of the Government body.

This is a contract until the end of March 2026 - with potential extensions.

The role is going to be remote working (within the UK)

Your new role

This role sits within Finance Digital Products and Engineering (FDPE) and is responsible for designing, building and supporting digital solutions that improve Finance services through automation, low-code development, systems integration and AI-enabled technologies.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, the postholder will develop applications, workflows, integrations and AI assistants that reduce manual effort, strengthen controls and improve user experience.

The role supports both transformational change and day-to-day service improvements, helping replace legacy tools, spreadsheets and manual processes with secure, governed and supportable digital products.

The postholder will work closely with Finance, Data, Digital and Technology teams to deliver solutions that are aligned to organisational standards, finance controls and user needs.

What you'll need to succeed

The ideal candidate will have experience developing and supporting digital products, applications, automations or AI-enabled solutions within a business or enterprise environment.

They will bring strong technical capability in low-code development, workflow automation, systems integration and product support, ideally using tools such as Power Platform, Microsoft 365, Copilot Studio, Qlik Answers or similar technologies.

You'll have experience delivering user-focused solutions through Agile methods, applying good practice in testing, documentation, security, governance and release management.

A good understanding of AI assistants, process automation and integration with business systems and data sources is desirable.

Be successful candidate will be a strong problem-solver and collaborator, able to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders to identify opportunities for improvement and deliver practical digital solutions.

Experience working with Finance or other operational business processes, alongside supporting live services and driving continuous improvement, would be highly advantageous.
