Summary: The Power BI Technical Lead will oversee the technical delivery of a complex reporting migration programme within a leading retail organization. This role requires collaboration with senior stakeholders and various teams to ensure the successful implementation of reporting solutions. The position is contract-based and falls under Inside IR35 regulations. The successful candidate will leverage their Power BI expertise to lead the transformation in the data and analytics function.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the technical design and delivery of a Power BI reporting migration
- Provide deep Power BI expertise, defining standards and best practices
- Identify and communicate technical risks, constraints, and migration watch-outs
- Act as the senior technical authority across reporting solutions
- Collaborate with Data Science, Analytics, and Engineering teams
- Engage with senior stakeholders to translate business needs into robust reporting solutions
Key Skills:
- Deep, hands-on Power BI expertise
- Proven experience leading at least one significant reporting migration programme
- Strong technical leadership experience in enterprise-scale environments
- Ability to clearly articulate technical risks, dependencies, and design decisions
- Experience working within Data & Analytics or Data Science & Reporting functions
- Retail sector experience, ideally within large supermarket or consumer-facing organisations

We are recruiting an experienced Power BI Technical Lead to support a major reporting and analytics transformation programme within a leading organisation in the retail/supermarket sector. The role sits within a Data Science & Reporting | Data & Analytics function and will work closely with senior stakeholders to lead a large-scale reporting migration.
Contract Details- Contract Length: Until December 2026
- Rate: £565 - £696 per day (Inside IR35, dependent on market)
- Location: Predominantly remote (WFH)
- Travel: Very occasional on-site attendance for workshops
- Clearance: Not required
The Role
