Power BI Sr. Developer

Summary: The Power BI Sr. Developer role is focused on establishing best practices for Power BI, including semantic model design, optimization of Direct Query mode, and development processes involving multiple developers. The position also entails analyzing service capacity and designing a publishing lifecycle for Power BI Apps. This is a 6-month remote position based in Santa Monica, CA.

Key Responsibilities:

• Power BI Best Practices in general
• Semantic Model: define best practices for designing and sharing semantic models. Develop guidelines for versioning, documentation, and reuse.
• Optimize Direct query mode/best practices for most optimal utilization of compute (defining aggregates) with automation. If we have good examples and templates for setup.
• Getting into a development mode in Power BI with multiple developers (Git versioning or Azure DevOps integration)
• PBI Service Capacity; analyze what would be the best capacity for our environment.
• Power BI Apps & Distribution: design App publishing lifecycle: packaging, versioning, deployment pipelines. Apps vs reports in terms of best practice.
• Power BI Reporting Template how do we design reusable templates for Power BI for Enterprise.
• We also need some help on monitoring the system and capacity usage. And how to better distribute the capacity.
