Power BI Developer

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Power BI Developer to design, develop, maintain, and enhance Power BI dashboards and reporting solutions for a government student loan data project. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on Power BI development experience, advanced SQL skills, and expertise in validating complex datasets, particularly student loan and forbearance data.

The candidate will also be responsible for migrating existing Tableau and Crystal Reports into Power BI, configuring Microsoft Power Platform solutions, implementing report security and accessibility standards, and providing technical documentation and end-user training.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, maintain, and enhance interactive Power BI dashboards and reports.
• Develop and optimize Power BI data models, visualizations, and reporting solutions.
• Validate student loan data across multiple sources, including forbearance data.
• Perform data reconciliation, quality checks, and accuracy validation.
• Develop, write, and optimize SQL queries to support reporting and data validation requirements.
• Work with Azure SQL Server and other data sources to support reporting solutions.
• Migrate existing Tableau dashboards and Crystal Reports into Power BI.
• Configure and support Microsoft Power Platform components.
• Implement Power BI report security, access controls, and accessibility requirements.
• Prepare and maintain technical documentation, report specifications, and data validation procedures.
• Conduct user training and provide guidance on Power BI reporting solutions.
• Communicate technical findings and reporting outcomes to business stakeholders and senior leadership.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of advanced hands-on Power BI development experience.
• Experience validating student loan data, including forbearance data - Mandatory
• Strong SQL query development and data validation skills.
• Excellent technical documentation skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent presentation skills, including experience communicating with senior leadership.
• Experience with Azure SQL Server.
• Experience with Microsoft Power Platform.
• Experience migrating Tableau dashboards and Crystal Reports to Power BI.
• Knowledge of data reconciliation and quality assurance.
• Experience implementing Power BI report security and accessibility standards.
• Experience conducting end-user training and preparing technical documentation.
