Summary: The Power BI Consultant role involves capturing requirements and translating them into technical solutions, focusing on developing and optimizing data models and Power BI integrations. The position requires strong Power BI experience and a commitment to compliance standards in data governance. The consultant will also be responsible for knowledge sharing and training internal teams to ensure sustainability. This is a remote position with a strong emphasis on performance optimization and scalability of BI solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Capture requirements and translate them into technical solution documents
  • Develop and optimize data models, DAX calculations, and Power Query transformations, ensuring adherence to best practices
  • Integrate Power BI with various data sources, including Enterprise Data Warehouse, SQL Server, SharePoint, and APIs
  • Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and train internal team to ensure sustainability
  • Follow compliance standards around data governance and security (Row-Level Security)
  • Monitor and improve report performance and scalability

Key Skills:

  • Strong Power BI experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in BI development, with at least 2 years in an advanced role
  • Advanced proficiency in Power BI, DAX, and Power Query
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases
  • Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes
  • DirectQuery Performance Tuning
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst or similar certifications (preferred)
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies (preferred)
  • Exposure to advanced analytics and AI integration in Power BI (preferred)

Required Qualifications

Bachelor?s degree in Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field

5+ years of experience in BI development, with at least 2 years in an advanced role

Advanced proficiency in Power BI, DAX, and Power Query

Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases

Strong knowledge of data warehousing concepts and ETL processes

DirectQuery Performance Tuning ? reducing query latency by optimizing source queries

Excellent communication and time management skills

Preferred Qualifications

Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst or similar certifications

Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies

Exposure to advanced analytics and AI integration in Power BI
