Summary: Our client, a large local government organization, is seeking an experienced Power BI Consultant for an initial 6-month contract that may be extended. The role involves designing and developing interactive dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI and SQL, supporting performance monitoring and decision-making for SEND services. The consultant will collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure data accuracy and reporting needs are met. This position is fully remote and classified as outside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop interactive dashboards and reports using Microsoft Power BI and SQL.
- Support performance monitoring of the SEND DMP and SEND service decision-making.
- Work with the Data Group, SEND Business Analyst, Capita lead, and head of Service for SEND.
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Connect to various data sources (Capita, SQL Server, Excel, SharePoint, APIs, etc.).
- Model data efficiently for performance and scalability.
- Define KPIs, metrics, and reporting needs in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Schedule and manage data refreshes and gateway configurations.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security across reports.
- Document data sources, transformation logic, and report structures.
- Provide support, training, and guidance to end-users on Power BI use.
- Work with IT and data teams to improve data pipelines and infrastructure.
Key Skills:
- Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, or related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Microsoft Power BI certification (optional but preferred).
- Experience in designing and developing Power BI dashboards and reports.
- Ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Proficiency in connecting to various data sources.
- Experience in data modeling for performance and scalability.
- Strong collaboration skills with various stakeholders.
- Knowledge of data accuracy, consistency, and security practices.
- Ability to document data sources and report structures.
- Experience in providing training and support to end-users.
- Familiarity with improving data pipelines and infrastructure.

Qualifications

Schedule and manage data refreshes and gateway configurations. Work with the BA and Capita lead to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security across reports. Document data sources, transformation logic, and report structures. Provide support, training, and guidance to end-users on Power BI use. Work with the SEND Business Analyst, IT and data teams to improve data pipelines and infrastructure.
